Gardaí in Dublin are searching for a prisoner who escaped from the custody of prison officers at Beaumont Hospital last night.
He asked to go to the toilet and the chain between a prison officer and the prisoner was removed.
It is understood the 26-year-old man jumped out of a second floor toilet window at around 10.15pm and got away.
The man has been serving an eight-year sentence in Wheatfield Prison for dangerous driving causing death. He was due for release in 2006.
He had received 20 stitches in his head in Beaumont Hospital before he escaped.
He is described as six feet tall with red hair and of stocky build, and he was wearing maroon pyjamas when he got away.
