Anti-war movement plans Dublin protest

The Irish anti-war movement has said it expects at least 20,000 people to take to the streets of Dublin tomorrow to show their opposition to the war.

Politicians from all the opposition parties, with the exception of Fine Gael, came together this morning to endorse the rally.

The movement has urged people to come out and hold the Government to account for what it calls 'their collaboration in an immoral and unjust war'.

The Deputy leader of the Labour party, Liz McManus, said the war was wrong and illegal and had to be opposed.

In Iran, thousands of people have marched through the capital, Tehran, to protest at the US-led war in Iraq. Protesters chanted ‘Death to Saddam’ as they shouted ‘Death to America’.

There have also been large protests in other cities around the world, particularly in South Asia, following Muslim Friday prayers.
