SARS ruled out by Midlands Health Board

The Midlands Health Board has confirmed that a man who was admitted to hospital with suspected Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome is not suffering from the virus.

The Board said that following a number of tests, it was confirmed that the patient's condition is not SARS.

Meanwhile the Western Health Board has said that the Co Mayo man who is being treated as a 'probable case' of the mystery flu-like illness Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome or SARS is 'stable and improving'.

The man had recently returned from a holiday visit to Hong Kong.

He is under the care of a clinical team in an isolation ward at the Mayo General Hospital in Castlebar.
