The death has occurred after a short illness of the former Irish Times journalist, Dick Walsh.
Aged 65, Mr Walsh retired from the newspaper last October after a long and distinguished career, which included the post of Political Editor.
A native of Ennis, Co Clare, he is survived by his wife Ruth Kelly, and his daughters Francesca and Suzanne.
