Bangladesh on alert following bombs

Bangladeshi troops are patrolling a town in the north of the country after four separate bomb attacks in cinemas in the town killed 17 people.

The government has ordered a nationwide security alert amid fears that the al Qaeda network or another terrorist group might be responsible.

Fifty-seven of those injured in the blast are said to be in a critical condition.
