The Department of Justice has not yet decided whether to release the killers of Detective Garda Jerry McCabe on Christmas parole. A decision is expected later this evening.
Garda McCabe's widow has said that she is opposed to reported plans to allow his killers out of jail. Anne McCabe said on Morning Ireland that the men convicted of the killing should not benefit from the terms of the Good Friday Agreement.
Garda McCabe was shot dead by IRA members Pearse McAuley and Kevin Walsh in 1996. The two men are serving 14 years for his manslaughter.
