Donegal body re-interred following post-mortem

The body of Ritchie Barron has been re-interred at St Eunan's cemetery in Raphoe, following this morning's exhumation. The State pathologist, Dr Harbison, carried out a post-mortem on the remains. However, it is not expected that the results would be made known today.

Richie Barron died in October 1996 and, while it was initially suspected that he was the victim of a hit and run road accident, Gardaí later opened a murder investigation. No one was ever charged in connection with Mr Barron's death, but the investigation became the subject of an internal Garda inquiry into wide-ranging allegations against certain officers in the county.
