At the Flood Tribunal, an element of doubt has been cast over an assertion by Joseph Murphy Senior that he has never met and does not know George Redmond. The development follows the final day of evidence given by the former developer, Batt O Shea.
James Gogarty's recollection of being introduced to the former assistant Dublin City and County manager George Redmond has also been called into question again. Mr O'Shea said that he introduced Mr Gogarty to Mr Redmond in the late 1980s. Mr O'Shea said that Mr Gogarty requested him to set up the meeting, which he attended and was quite certain they had never met before.
Mr Gogarty has already given evidence that Mr Bailey, of Bovale Developments, made the introduction months earlier. The tribunal is due to resume around 2pm, where counsel for James Gogarty, Frank Callinan is due to cross examine Mr O'Shea. Just before breaking for lunch, Mr O'Shea said that Joseph Murphy Senior told him, "I hear that you have a good friend in the Corporation". In his testimony to the Flood Tribunal in Guernsey, Mr Murphy stated that he had never heard of or met George Redmond.
Batt O'Shea has concluded giving evidence to the Food Tribunal and it is now been adjourned to Monday week.
