The Garda authorities appear to be on a collision course with rank and file Gardaí over the introduction of a new computer system. The force's management has decided to begin operating the new system, known as PULSE, at Garda stations through-out the country from next Tuesday. The £40m system is being tested today and tomorrow in 21 stations. However, the Garda Representative Association has issued a directive to its members not to put it into operation next week.
