The Prison Officers' Association has criticised what it calls the leniency of prison sentences imposed on two men who took prison officers hostage.
Twenty-seven-year-old Edward Ferncombe from Clondalkin was jailed for three years for holding five prison officers hostage two years ago. Thirty-four-year-old Eamon Seery of Ballymun was given a two-year sentence.
The POA said the sentence did not reflect the serious nature of the attack on the officers, who were held hostage for more than two days.
