From getting engaged to appearing on Game of Thrones, we're walking you through Ed Sheeran's biggest moments since his sold-out Dublin concerts last year, before he kicks off a nine-date tour of the country this weekend.

Wedding Bells

Probably the biggest moment of Ed's last 12 months, in January he announced his engagement to Cherry Seaborn. Ed has been in a relationship with the hockey player since 2015, but they first met in school.

Taking to Instagram to tell the world about his upcoming nuptials, Ed shared a cute photo of him and Cherry, with the caption, "Got myself a fiancé [sic] just before new year. We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well xx."

International Best-Seller

On the back of his multi-platinum third studio album Divide, Ed was named the best-selling global recording artist for 2017. Not only did he release the best-selling album on the list though, Ed also took the lead in the singles race too for Shape of You. He doesn't do things by halves!

The International Federation Of The Phonographic Industry said the accolade reflects "an artist's worldwide success across digital and physical music formats, from streams to vinyl".

From Suffolk to Westeros

A Game of Thrones season premiere packs enough excitement on it's own, but for season seven the series enlisted a familiar face for a singing cameo.

Ed played a soldier from King’s Landing and was singing around a campfire when he caught the attention of Maisie Williams's Arya Stark as she rode through a forest on horseback. Stark told Sheeran's unnamed character: "It's a pretty song, I've never heard it before." Sheeran replied. "It's a new one."

Galway Grill

Ed enlisted Oscar-nominated actress Saoirse Ronan, among other famous Irish faces, to star in the video for his song Galway Girl, and while the video itself made headlines, the spelling of a tattoo from the set garnered a lot of attention too.

"When we were filming it, I meant to get a tattoo of her handwriting saying 'Galway Girl'," Sheeran told fans at a concert in Glasgow. "It actually says 'Galway Grill'. G-r-i-l-l." Saoirse Ronan, what a joker.

Swift Reunion

Ed teamed up again with his close friend Taylor Swift for a feature on her album Reputation. The duo joined forces with rapper Future for the song End Game, which was filmed in locations including London, Miami and Tokyo.

In the video, Ed is seen hanging out with Taylor, having a few drinks in a club and laughing and joking.

Carpool Karaoke

Ed and James Corden proved themselves to be quite the double act on an episode of Carpool Karaoke with wandering hands, classy singalongs and Ed breaking his own record for the amount of Maltesers he can fit into his mouth at one time.

"I couldn't see what was funny about me singing my songs in a car," Ed admitted on the segment. "But instantly we bring out a guitar and it's a lot more comfortable."
