Children prepare for Halloween night in Bray, County Wicklow.

RTÉ News reports on the preparations being made by children in advance of Halloween night. Children in homemade costumes and masks are shown asking for fruit and nuts from neighbourhood houses. Other children are shown gathering firewood for illegal bonfires on Halloween night.

Fireworks and bangers are also illegal in Ireland. 1977 was the first year for a public holiday was granted at or around Halloween.
