Heaney recalls literary life in Belfast and the publication of his first book.
Heaney tells Mike Murphy about literary life in Belfast. There was very much a local scene, both at university and in the city of itself. He was also part of the Group run by Philip Hobsbaum, but that was more of a class, where poems were sent out in advance to poets who would then meet to critique them. The publication of his first collection of poetry, 'Death of a Naturalist', was a life-changing experience.
