The Health Education Bureau releases findings of research into smoking as part of a broader anti-smoking campaign.

The Health Education Bureau has embarked on an anti-smoking campaign to help smokers to quit the habit and has carried out research to establish the extent of the problem and the challenges that lie ahead.

According to the research the best approach for getting people to stop smoking is an emphasis on the health hazards.

Ronnie Turner speaks to Jack Jones of the Market Research Bureau on the findings of the research. He also meets one man from Dublin who has given up smoking as a result of the government's anti-smoking campaign.

As part of the broader anti-smoking campaign, the Health Education Bureau has declared Ash Wednesday a national day of no smoking.
