In Dublin today, the Canadian Foreign Minister, Joe Clarke, said his country intends to maintain its military presence in Europe for the foreseeable future. He is meeting the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Gerard Collins, with a view to strengthening links between Canada and the European Economic Community (EEC).
