Layoff Of OPW Workers

Drainage workers employed by the Office of Public Works (OPW), are to be let go on a phased basis between now and the end of the year. The men made themselves available for work this morning but the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union (ITGWU) says they were refused permission to work.

Report shows men standing outside the locked gates of the public works base at Ballaghadereen, County Roscommon.
