Scuffles broke out in Donegal when an extradition order was being signed for Patrick McIntyre.
This was one of the largest ever security operations under taken in Donegal with Gardaí from Athlone helping to seal off the courthouse.
Sinn Féin supporters protesting over the policy of extradition were kept behind the line of Gardaí.
Meanwhile, a separate demonstration took place organised by Letterkenny neighbours of the McIntyre family.
The extradition order was granted and Patrick McIntyre was returned to Mountjoy Prison.
