For the first time in the history of the RDS Spring Show it has opened on a Sunday in an effort to attract greater numbers.

One of the highlights on the opening day was an international tug-of-war competition.

Tony Fitzgerald organiser of the event at the RDS (Royal Dublin Society) speaks about the success of the Sunday opening with attendance numbers up on previous years.

Sunday now is a very big day for family entertainment.

The major theme for the indoor exhibition was Irish food, featuring the best of home produce. The show also had agricultural and trade exhibits, and is described as

The week when city and country come together.

This year the show will run from Sunday to Thursday in the hope of drawing bigger crowds to the event. In previous years the Spring Show ran from Tuesday to Saturday.
