Young musicians are in Dublin to compete in the largest and oldest classical music festival in Ireland.

The Feis Ceoil has been running since 1897, and gives young people the opportunity to perform for audiences, participate in competitions and compete for prestigious awards and bursaries.

Sisters Mairéad and Maeve Lochrie won the Under-17 piano duet contest, and performing together clearly suits them. As Mairéad says, once she is on stage with her sister,

You don't feel that nervous.

Competitions take place throughout the day in the RDS (Royal Dublin Society), with performers as young as eight displaying their musical talent.

William Lehane took the Under-11 cello competition in his stride, while Adam Russell Hallinan took home the Under-15 classical guitar medal.
