Taoiseach Liam Cosgrave pays repsects at Arlington National Cemetery during a six day visit to the USA.

The Taoiseach Liam Cosgrave was visitng the USA in the bicentennial year of the American Revolution at the invitation of President Gerald Ford..

The national anthem sounded at Arlington National Cemetery, where the Taoiseach Liam Cosgrave laid a wreath at the tomb of the unknown soldier. Liam Cosgrave and his party, which included Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Garret FitzGerald, also visited the grave of the late US President John F Kennedy as well as the eternal flame memorial.

At the Lincoln Memorial, there was a display of Irish dancing to welcome the visitors.
