Women's Aid announce the findings of their latest report and outline plans for future services.
Women's Aid was established in 1974 to provide refuge to women and children experiencing domestic violence and abuse.
Pat Conway, administrator to Women's Aid, sets out new proposals for the organisation, which are dependent upon financial support being forthcoming. The plans include the establishment of a crisis centre where people in need of the services can have a programme set out for them.
Women's Aid currently assists around 26 women and their children each week. The centre also provides a telephone advice service. While public awareness of domestic violence is growing, Pat Conway believes that many people are not aware of the extent of the problem. Many women who made be in need of help are not aware of the services available.
