A mural with the name of the British street artist Banksy appears on a hoarding in Dublin.

The street art appeared on a hoarding at buildings on Moore Street with a connection to the Easter Rising in 1916. The mural is based on a famous photograph featuring Padraig Pearse. What is of most interest to people is the fact that it contains the signature, Banksy.

Controversy has surrounded the buildings on this street. Four have been purchased by the government for restoration to mark 2016, while others are scheduled for demolition.

Despite the hype, artists have pointed out that the work is highly unlikely to be by the famous street artist. Artist James Earley points to some of the technical signs that the mural is not a Banksy. A spokesperson for Banksy has denied he is behind the work.
