The 67 year old broadcaster Terry Wogan has been honoured for his work on BBC radio and television. As a holder of dual Irish and British citizenship, he can use the title Sir.

Terry Wogan began his career at RTÉ but made the move to London in the 1960s. Apart from his radio and television shows, he has hosted the BBC coverage of the Eurovision Song Contest for over thirty years.
Knighted at Buckingham Palace, Terry Wogan was accompanied by his wife Helen and two sons. Speaking after the ceremony, Terry Wogan said that the Queen had listened to his show that morning.
