Some of the most prominent electronics companies in the world are at an exhibition in NIHE Limerick.
Major international and Irish companies are showing some of the latest advances in electronic equipment at an exhibition held at the National Institute for Higher Education (NIHE) Limerick electronics laboratory. The equipment on display is worth some £1.5 million.
The exhibition, the first of its kind in the mid-west region, is organised by Michael Ronan, senior technician at NIHE. The intention is to hold the exhibition annually.
One of the benefits the institute hopes to achieve is contact with the future employers of its students.
NIHE Limerick plans to address the demand for specialist education in electronics, which cannot be catered for by its full-time programme. The Institute is offering part-time short courses and tailoring full-time programme timetables to facilitate practising engineers.
