Ahead of the centenary commemoration a new app offers a guided tour of 1916 Rising locations.
The app is the brainchild of the group 'Reclaim the Vision of 1916' using music and audio recordings created for the 75th anniversary of the 1916 Rising.
Each point shown on this app marks one of the outposts which saw fighting during the 1916 Rising.
This guide to the Easter Rising includes over a hundred photographs. Students from the Central Model School on Marlborough Street in Dublin give their views on the app.
Cormac Breathnach, a patron of 'Reclaim the Vision of 1916' believes the app will be of interest to both Irish people and tourists.
I think for the tourist, it is a great crash course in Irish history.
Lord Mayor of Dublin Críona Ní Dhálaigh welcomes the fact that there is now support for citizen led initiatives. Granddaughter of Michael Mallin, Úna Ó Callanáin, also welcomed the app she believes will help children to understand their history. Michael Mallin was an Irish republican who was executed by firing squad on 8 May 1916.
