Makers bring their creations and designs to the public at the National Crafts and Design Fair.

Over 500 craftspeople are showcasing their wares at the National Crafts and Design Fair at the RDS in Dublin. The Crafts Council of Ireland is asking people to remember to buy Irish this Christmas to sustain important jobs in the indigenous crafts sector.

The event allows artists and craftspeople from all over the country to meet clients directly. Goldsmith, Helena Malone, welcomes the engagement with customers to hear what they want and the opportunity to showcase new designs.

Eddie Doherty has been selling hand woven garments at the RDS for the last forty years.

Brian Magee of the Craft Council of Ireland says the event is the culmination of a year's work for many artisans. He encourages people to give Irish crafts this Christmas.

Total revenue from the annual National Crafts and Design Fair is estimated at around €5 million.
