After success in Sydney Olympic silver medal winner Sonia O'Sullivan arrives home to Cork.
Cobh athlete Sonia O'Sullivan returns home to a civic reception and an open top bus trip through the city with her Olympic silver medal.
Sonia O'Sullivan was met at Cork Airport by her partner Nick Bideau and their daughter Ciara, Chairman of Cork County Council John Mulvihill, and Lord Mayor of Cork PJ Hourican. Hundreds of friends and well wishers were also there to welcome home the Cobh hero, as well as children from the Cork Cope Foundation.
At Cork County Hall, Sonia O'Sullivan was presented with a Cork silver medal and expressed her gratitude to the people of Cork who have supported her through her career. She is now planning a holiday after next weekend's Loughrea Run.
Thousands of people lined the streets as Sonia O'Sullivan travelled through the city centre on an open top bus to Cork City Hall for another reception to mark her Sydney success.
