Rose Daly sings 'The Boys of Mullaghbawn' a tale of young men who are transported from Ireland.

From a musical family in Ballycommon, County Offaly, 19-year-old Rose Daly is a member of the Tullamore branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Eireann (CCÉ).

In August 1985 Rose Daly won the Senior Ladies Singing competition at the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann held in Listowel. She had previously won all Ireland titles in each age group to senior level.

Rose Daly performs 'The Boys of Mullaghbawn'. Mullaghbawn is situated near Slieve Gullion in south Armagh. In the eighteenth century, Mullaghbawn was part of the Forkhill Estate owned by Squire Richard Jackson. Squire Jackson, well thought of in the district, died in 1787. The song gives an account of events after his death, which sees the boys of Mullaghbawn sent for transportation by an unfavourable landlord.
