After more than 12 years, 34-year-old midfielder Roy Keane leaves Manchester United by mutual consent. His departure sends shockwaves around Manchester, but there is huge surprise too in his home city of Cork.

Rumours of disagreements with the coaching staff are rife in Cork. One man interviewed on Saint Patrick's Street decides,

Tony Hennessy runs the football supporters shop 'Football Crazy' on Cork's Academy Street. He could see the breakdown between Alex Ferguson and Roy Keane coming when the football star was not offered a contract by Manchester United.

He had given 12 and a half years service and knowing Roy you know that would upset him terribly and it would hurt his pride.

Tony Hennessy imagines Roy Keane is currently feeling saddened and that his pride is hurt. He speaks highly of the player who he considers to be a wonderful man, who has done a lot for football, and for the people of Cork.
