History made in Tpperary as the first same sex couple are married in Ireland.
Dublin based couple Cormac Gollogly and Richard Dowling, together for 12 years, are the first to tie the knot as the marriage equality legislation is enacted. The couple were civilly married in Clonmel at 8:40 am when Senior Registrar for South Tipperary, Mary Claire Heffernan, confirmed that they were the first same-sex couple to get married in Ireland.
Cormac Gollogly and Richard Dowling became civil partners in September 2015, but decided to convert this into a marriage once the Marriage Act 2015 became law.

Elsewhere, Dolores Murphy and her civil partner Mabel Stoop-Murphy were told at the minute that their marriage could not go ahead at the Registry Office in Cork due to a lack of notice under the Civil Registration Act.
