A year after the pope celebrated Mass in Dublin what should be done with the site in the Phoenix Park?

On 29 September 1979, Pope John Paul II celebrated Mass at the Phoenix Park in Dublin to a congregation of one million people.

The site where the mass took place is now deserted and the Papal Cross had been vandalised with graffiti. Plans are being put in place and it is expected the cross will be retained and the site is to be landscaped.

The Board of Works is to be responsible for the maintenance of the site at the Fifteen Acres in the Phoenix Park.
