The RTÉ Concert Orchestra prepare for their appearance at the Electric Picnic festival in County Laois.
The RTÉ Concert Orchestra will be making its debut at the Electric Picnic festival. Led by conductor David Brophy, the orchestra will perform a special 'Electric Proms' concert in the Body & Soul area at lunchtime on the final day of the festival.
Concert promoter John Reynolds says the Electric Picnic offers a broad range of musical genres and welcomes the addition of the RTÉ Concert Orchestra to the line-up.
I think it is quite amazing that they’ve actually said yes and they’re coming down.
As well as playing some of their favourite pieces, RTÉ Concert Orchestra will be welcoming guest vocalists from elsewhere on the Electric Picnic bill.
David Brophy believes this gives the RTÉ Concert Orchestra a chance to highlight what they can do, and it allows the guests to show,
What they might sound like without their normal band, with a 55, 60-piece orchestra behind them.
The Electric Picnic takes place in Stradbally, County Laois, from 3-5 September 2010.
