Nostalgia in Derry as the old Donegal Railway service rolls again.
The North-West Ulster Railway Preservation Society has restored the Donegal Railway Company rolling stock and other rail equipment withdrawn from service in 1960. This includes the 'Columbkille' steam engine built in 1907 and originally known as 'Killybegs', has been restored to its former glory.
The society has laid a stretch of railway track at its premises at the Waterside terminus beside Craigavon Bridge. As part of a second open day for North-West Ulster Railway Preservation Society former passengers of the Donegal train service can take a nostalgic trip on what was once the longest narrow gauge system on these islands.
