Nurses from the Philippines assist Ireland with the shorfall of qualified staff in the health service.

In times past Irish nurses travelled abroad in search of better pay and opportunities, but now it is the turn of the Filipinos.

The Mater Hospital in Dublin has recruited 70 nurses from the Philippines. Director of Nursing Anne Carrigy explains that their education, skills and proficiency in the English language means they are highly competent practitioners.

The nurses who have worked in a variety of clinical backgrounds are open about their reasons for relocating to Ireland.

Much more higher pay here, when compared with our own country.
