Archbishop Desmond Tutu speaks of a growing diversity in Ireland's population and debt relief in Africa.
The former Archbishop of Cape Town and Nobel Laureate, Dr Desmond Tutu, spoke at a multicultural service at a packed St George's and St Thomas's Church in Dublin. Music for the ceremony was provided the all ages, mixed race Discovery Gospel Choir. Dr Desmond Tutu encouraged people to celebrate diversity.
The rainbow is a rainbow only because it has different colours.
He expressed hope that there would be support at the G8 summit in Scotland for the debt relief and aid plan for Africa. After the service, he spoke to reporters and encouraged people not to give up hope on peace in Northern Ireland.
Dr Desmond Tutu is spending a number of days in Dublin. During his time here, he will give a lecture at the Royal College of Surgeons entitled 'War and Peace in the 21st Century'. He will also be made an honorary patron of the Philosophical Society at Trinity College Dublin.
