A statue depicting eight time All Ireland winner Paidí O Sé in full flight is unveiled in Ventry.

Paidí O Sé a former Kerry captain and eight time All Ireland Football Championship winner died unexpectedly in December 2012 at the age of 57. Friends and family came together to celebrate the Kerry footballer in his native Ventry.

Former Kerry manager Mick O'Dwyer said,

Paidí O Sé, I suppose, was one the greatest footballers that we have produced in this county over the years.

Seán Ó Catháin, organising committee chairman, pays tribute to Paidí O Sé who he describes as the top of the pile when it came to the great football players who have come from Ventry.

Paidí Ó Sé's wife Máire was happy to see so many people pay tribute to her late husband on what would have been his 60th birthday.

The bronze statue unveiled on Ard a Bhóthar just outside Paidí O Sé's pub shows him with the ball clutched in one hand wearing the number 5 jersey. Created by sculptor Seamus Connolly from County Clare, the statue is mounted on Valentia Island Slate.
