A massive clean up operation is required in Dublin following Saint Patrick's Day festivities.
When the St Patrick's Day celebrations were over Dublin city streets and public spaces were covered in rubbish. Dublin Corporation staff were on the streets from early morning removing litter. Many of the streets were cleared early in the day, but St Stephen's Green took much longer. A staff of ten Office of Public Works workers were assigned to clean up the green, but much litter remained as midday approached.
One tourist described the green as a bit of a mess. Others felt that the rubbish was understandable given the party that had taken place to celebrate St Patrick's Day. Another tourist predicts that the city will be clean again by the next St Patrick's Day parade.
Much of the rubbish was discarded within feet of the many litter bins which remained empty.
