The Irish Crossbow Club face the King's Bowmen Club from England in a contest at Ashford, County Wicklow.

The Irish Crossbow Club was founded by a small group of enthusiasts in 1972. Their weekly practice is held in scenic surroundings near Roundwood in County Wicklow.

On 12 and 13 October 1974 Irish Crossbow Club members compete with arbalists from the King's Bowmen Club from Kirkbymoorside in Yorkshire, England. The contest is held in the grounds of the Bel-Air Hotel in Ashford, County Wicklow.

The contest is between two teams of 15 marksmen shooting at 27 metre and 46 metre ranges. Participants compete for a number of trophies.
