Protest march through Dublin city centre to demand the complete restoration of food subsidies.

In the Dublin suburb of Tallaght, where the number of people unemployed is fast approaching 5,000 the Government's decision to half food subsidies is criticised. The West Tallaght Combined Residents' Association is formed to oppose the price increases on essential foodstuffs such as bread and milk.

The Tallaght protest group joins similar groups from Crumlin, Coolock, Kilbarrack, Rathfarnham, and Ballymun in a march from Parnell Square to Government Buildings centre. A petition of 4,000 signatures is handed in demanding the subsidies to be fully restored.
