A dispute at Mountjoy Jail over the past few months has led to acrimony between the Prison Officers' Association and the Minister for Justice Michael Noonan.
Mountjoy Jail has been the scene of much trouble over the past few months.
Chairman of the visiting committee Jack O'Farrell outlines the current situation in Mountjoy. Three inmates are on a hunger and thirst strike, ten more are refusing to wear prison clothes and two others are on hunger strike. The prisoners are demanding full issue of clothing including runners.
It is purely for the runners that they are on the protest.
The prisoners are also protesting over the restricted amount of exercise they get.
