At the Ortine Hotel in Lisnaskea an opportunity to experience how people worked and played in the past.

A slide show and talk by Fermanagh folklorist and Lisnaskea publican Paddy Cassidy preceded the evening of entertainment. All present were invited to turn the súgán (make a rope from straw) but swinging the flail is in the expert hands of eighty six year old Tommy O'Rourke.

The event was organised by Paddy Cassidy to raise funds for a new parish hall in Lisnaskea and demonstrated,

How country people lived and worked in days gone by.

Tug of war, horseshoe throwing, skittles, conkers and games such as lifting the stick add to the convivial atmosphere. Other games such as hardy knuckles are for those of a strong constitution,

The one who draws first blood is the winner.
