A summer downpour catches out many people on St Patrick's Street in Cork.

Unseasonable heavy rain sees several people on St Patrick's Street in Cork city centre reaching for umbrellas and donning rain gear.

Those not so fortunate resort to makeshift efforts to keep dry. A man and his daughter use their handkerchiefs as headgear to fend off the torrential rain.

On St Patrick's Bridge traffic comes to a complete standstill causing a bumper-to-bumper jam throughout the city centre.
