Demolition of the International Hotel is underway in Bray

A fire on the morning of Friday 14 June at the International Hotel in Bray caused significant damage to the building.

All of the guests and staff managed to get out of the building safely with the help of Gardaí. The fire is believed to have started in the grill room and raged through the 108 year old hotel for five hours.

In Bray County Wicklow, the end of a well known landmark.

After inspection of the fire damaged hotel, authorities decided that it was in too dangerous a condition to save. A fortnight after the fire the demolition crew moved in. Two ornamental eagles at the front of the building were damaged during the demolition operation.

One of Bray's best known buildings has disappeared.
