Reviving an old summer tradition of dancing at the crossroads in County Louth.

Scoraiocht Lannleire organisd the first of the crossroads dances this week. For the rest of the summer, dancers will be found at a crossroads somewhere in County Louth every Monday night.

The founder of Scoraiocht Lannleire, John Flanagan, is a breadman by day. On Monday nights, he uses his van to pull a tea wagon in to the crossroads. Eugene Conlon explains Scoraiocht Lannleire are trying to,

Musician Bartle Woods performs at the crossroads and teaches others to play the fiddle.

Our roots are the traditional music and the traditional dancing which was always done in the country.

Scoraiocht Lannleire beleive that interest in dances at crossroads are growing despite competition from other types of entertainment. Bartle's mother Kathleen Woods says that in her day there was nothing else to do but go to the crossroads dances.
