Day three of an international festival of music at The RDS.

The success of the inaugural City of Dublin International Festival of Music last year meant the return of the event for a second year.

Over 80 bands from around the world took part in the three day event. The final day of the festival featured an extravaganza of mass bands performing in the main jumping enclosure at the RDS. Over 300 musicians assembled for the display.

Nearly three thousand took part in the three day festival of brass, military, accordion and pipe bands.

Competitions took place for each section, including youth bands and a majorette competition. Musicians from the United States, Britain, Norway and all corners of Ireland participated. One of the most popular bands of the festival was the Owasso High School Band from Oklahoma who presented the newly appointed Lord Mayor of Dublin William Cumiskey, with a traditional Cherokee Indian headdress.
