RTÉ cameraman Jackie Merriman and sound recordist Paddy Hayes get ready to travel to Cyprus.

An RTÉ camera crew prepare to travel to cover Irish troops on duty with the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus, The 40th Irish Battalion is bound for Famagusta on the east coast of northern Cyprus.

Jack Merriman and Paddy Hayes weigh and pack flight cases for the transportation of film and cameras for their trip to Cyprus.

Reporter Kevin O'Kelly and photographer Roy Bedell joined Jack Merriman and Paddy Hayes to make up the RTÉ production team that travelled to Cyprus. They were there to film for the documentary 'Operation Cyprus' about the Irish Defence Forces on United Nations duty .
