Water supply from Leixlip leaving a bad taste in Clontarf homes.
From a house in Clontarf reporter Charlie Bird describes the water as being unpleasant to drink and tasting like disinfectant. The people living here have resorted to buying bottled water.
One resident complains that the water has been bad for a few months but has really deteriorated in the last three weeks.
You couldn't possibly drink the water because the taste of chlorine is appalling and we can't even use our SodaStream.
Dublin Corporation believes the bad taste is probably being caused by the chemical phenol entering the water supply at Leixlip. Dublin City Councillor Hannah Barlow in Beaumont calls for an investigation into the problem. People cannot use the water for drinking or cooking, especially eggs which taste foul if you boil them. She also claims that not only does the water taste bad but it is making people nauseous resulting in vomiting. It is also causing abdominal upsets in babies. Hannah Barlow also questions why people should be expected to pay rates for this quality of water.
A lot of people have vomited on this water.
