Three Dublin families have to leave a building in Clanbrassil Street where they have been squatting.

Three homeless families are evicted from an unoccupied house at 43 Upper Clanbrassil Street in Dublin where they have been squatting for almost a week. Those evicted are Kathleen and John Flynn with their daughter Noreen; Marie and Joseph Quinn and their children Marie and Linda and Breeda and John Morris, whose only child is in hospital.

The women and children had spent a number of weeks in accommodation provided by the Dublin Health Authority in Griffith Barracks. Breeda Morris, Marie Quinn, Kathleen Flynn were among those who had been on hunger strike at the barracks. They took the decision to leave Griffith Barracks claiming their children were exposed to gastroenteritis.

The vacant Clanbrassil Street building has been declared unfit for habitation by Dublin Corporation. The families are informed by the owner's agent that they must leave the property by 6 pm. In compliance with these orders, the six adults and three children move out onto the street.
