Dubliners encouraged to use the hills and mountains near their city for recreation.

The Dublin Mountains Partnership plans to upgrade walking trails and improve signage and public transport links.

Despite their proximity to a major capital city, the mountains are not used regularly by the vast majority of Dublin citizens.

Richard Cremins, to Dublin Mountain Partnership, is optimistic that people will make more use of the natural landscape as the city expands towards the hills.

It will become more and more vital for people to be able to get into the hills, get away from the city and enjoy themselves.

Minister for Communications Eamon Ryan attended the campaign launch to show his support for the initiative. He points out that Dublin as a capital city is unique in that you can avail of the mountain air within twenty minutes.

We have a real treasure in Dublin, the hills and mountains around the city.

The Dublin Mountain Partnership believe that the citizens of Dublin are lucky to live beside the sea and the mountains and want to see people benefit by using their natural surroundings more.
