A big clean-up begins as Dublin Corporation workers return to work following a three week strike.
With the three week strike by Dublin Corporation manual workers settled a major clean up of city streets gets going. During the strike vast amounts of rubbish accumulated on Dublin streets.
Principal officer of Dublin Corporation's engineering department John Doran cannot confirm how long it will take to get the capital reasonably tidy again. Top priority in the clean-up operation is tending to the city centre and to Dublin Corporation flats.
Most of the central city streets have already been swept and the refuse has been removed, the gullies have been cleaned.
Practically all of the major rubbish dumps around Moore Street, Britain Place and Camden Place have been removed.
Another problem left by the strike is subsidence on some roads. As staff are now back at work Dublin Corporation has dealt with this issue.
